Iranian President: The United States Is the Driving Force Behind Attacks on Our Country

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the U.S. strike reveals Washington as the primary driver behind Israel’s attacks, adding that the United States entered the battlefield only after witnessing Israel’s failure.

Speaking on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Pezeshkian said: “This act clearly proves that the United States is the main instigator of the hostile actions carried out by Israel against Iran.”

He explained that although the Americans initially tried to conceal their role, they were forced to directly intervene after Iran’s firm and deterrent response and Israel’s inability to continue the confrontation alone.

President Pezeshkian added: “Israel’s aggression against our country—despite the loss of a number of commanders, scientists, and dear citizens—must serve as a catalyst to set aside internal differences and activate our immense popular potential.”

His remarks came after the United States launched strikes early Sunday targeting three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking at a press conference in Istanbul, strongly condemned the U.S. strikes, calling them a violation of international law.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran would continue to defend its sovereignty and people, stressing that U.S. President Donald Trump “has deceived not only Iran but also his own country.”

The Iranian foreign minister also urged the IAEA Board of Governors to condemn the attack on nuclear facilities, asserting that Iran reserves all options to protect its security, interests, and people.
