Afrin Administration Requires Businesses to Display Prices in Syrian Pounds
Welat TV – Erbil
The Afrin District Administration has issued a directive requiring all commercial businesses in the city and its countryside to display the prices of goods and products in Syrian pounds (SYP), in line with ministerial instructions and a circular issued by the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
The directive, issued on Sunday, July 19, requires shop owners to place clear and visible price tags on all goods and products offered for sale, enabling consumers to easily view prices.
It noted that, during the current transitional period, businesses may continue to display prices in both Syrian and Turkish lira, provided that the Syrian pound remains the primary and officially recognized price.
The administration said the decision takes effect immediately, adding that market inspection teams will conduct field visits to monitor compliance.
Businesses found in violation will face legal measures and official penalties in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
