Spain Crowned 2026 FIFA World Cup Champions for the Second Time

Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the second time in its history after defeating Argentina 1–0 in the final, with the match extending into extra time following a goalless draw in regulation.

The final was played on Sunday, July 19, at New York–New Jersey Stadium before a packed crowd.

Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in the first period of extra time after capitalizing on a rebound inside the penalty area, securing La Roja's second World Cup title following its first triumph in 2010. Spain also dominated the tournament's individual awards. Rodri was named the Best Player of the Tournament, while Ferran Torres received the Player of the Final award after scoring the decisive goal.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente, aged 65, became the oldest manager to lead a national team to a FIFA World Cup title.

Goalkeeper Unai Simon won the Golden Glove as the tournament's best goalkeeper, while young defender Pau Cubarsí was named the Best Young Player of the 2026 World Cup.
